Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
It was delightful to see our Prep students coming to school dressed up as “old people” to celebrate 100 days of school. From my observations, it was clear to see that they had a wonderful day at school. Thanks especially to the Prep teachers.
We are all looking forward to participating in the national Pyjama Day tomorrow. Please make sure that the children are warmly dressed underneath their pyjamas.
The disabled car park in the first parking bay outside the school office is specifically designed for wheelchair access. Please leave this disabled car park for wheelchair access only.
There has been an increasing number of vehicles entering the turning circle and pulling up in front of the admin area to drop off students in the mornings. This is not a drop off area and is definitely a no parking area as marked on the asphalt. Drop off is in the car line only, or parents may park in the angle parking bays and the students walk across the crossing and proceed up the footpath. At times there may be designated parking bays available for you to park in the staff car park area. These requirements are all for student safety and we ask you to please adhere to them.
Best wishes,
Ros Joyner
Principal
As you would be aware from our last newsletter, the Child Safety Standards were updated to make them stronger on the 1st of July, 2022. As a result, our Child Safety and Wellbeing policy was updated to reflect the 11 Child Safety Standards. It is important for families to be aware of our policy so we have included it below for you to read. It is our key responsibility to keep the children in our care safe at all times, and our Child Safety and Wellbeing policy outlines how we strive to do so.

A message from Deacon Mark
True Stewards
Every person in every age needs to deal with the circumstances she finds herself in. Some just go with the flow. Some angrily resist the flow. Some try to tweak the flow a little and probably all of us do each of these at different times.
Born into unimaginable wealth as most of us are in Australia, we mostly go with the flow. Some things particularly annoy us. And some things we do what we can to change.
Jesus is addressing us directly in this gospel (Luke 12:32-48). Most ordinary Australians live in housing, the size and convenience of which was inconceivable in Jesus’ time; and indeed remains so for most of our sisters and brothers today. Our surety (even in Covid times) of food, clean water, health care, education, safety and recreation is unparalleled. If anyone has had a great deal given them it is us. Much is demanded of us. And we should feel some discomfort.
It has pleased our Father to give us the Kingdom (Luke 12:32) so we are in charge of ensuring all are fed and clothed and cared for in the Creator’s Kingdom. How are we doing with that?
How is our abundance distributed? Are we supporting the desperately poor people in our communities, in our nation and elsewhere? And others who don’t share our good fortune? Do we sometimes marginalise, disrespect or despise others who are different? Oh dear!
Realising how we fall short, how do we fix that? Our Creator wants us to enjoy our lives but last week’s gospel (Luke 12:13-21) reminded us of the foolishness of hording and accumulating possessions and forgetting about more important matters. We are genuine stewards of the Kingdom when we love others as the Creator loves them and generously give of our time and talents to enable others to enjoy life in the Kingdom.

Absences & Holidays
In Victoria, it is compulsory for children and young people aged 6–17 years to attend school.
Parents are legally required to ensure their child attends school every day and to provide an explanation for their child's absence from school unless an exemption from attendance has been granted or an exception to their attendance applies.
Absences
If your child is away sick or away due to a planned absence or appointment, please ensure you advise the school office. Student absence text messages are sent out if your child is marked as absent without a reason. In some cases, if you email your child's classroom teacher, they may be away and may not be able to check their emails to forward to the office. It is imperative that you notify the office through one of the following methods:
1. Log into PAM (Parent Access Module) and register your child's absence;
2. Email absence@stjwarragul.catholic.edu.au
3. Phone the office on 5623 2943
When sending an email, you may wish to "cc" your child's classroom teacher so they are aware of the absence too.
Holidays
If you are planning an extended holiday (a week or more) during the school term, please email info@stjwarragul.catholic.edu.au addressing your intentions to our Principal, Mrs Roslyn Joyner.
LOST PROPERTY
Have you or your child lost a ring? A ring has been handed in at the office. Please make contact if you think this may be yours.
Please ensure all student belongings, especially jumpers and jackets are named!
PAM is our main platform for correspondence. It is important that you register with PAM and verify your email so you can receive all communication.
